Kay Blythe
Egg Tempera

Egg tempera is one of the oldest, most
versatile, and most durable methods of painting. It was the main medium used for
panel painting and illuminated manuscripts in the Byzantine world and the Middle
Ages in Europe, until it was replaced by Oil painting in Europe. It has remained
the required medium for Orthodox Icons. Kay has developed a passion for this
medium and paints traditional icons as well as portraits in Egg Tempera.
